The globe is in a noose of careless exploitation. Hope still exists in the nobility of sprit and vision represented by the eagle, the transformative and healing powers of knowledge represented by the snake (as in the caduceus), and the humility and gentle familiarity of the mouse.
20% of the world's endangered primates live in Vietnam . 80 million people also live in this country, which is about the size of Vancouver Island . Clearly this puts strain on the environment. Many Vietnamese, including those collaborating on this piece, are acting to preserve the natural land on which all species depend. |
