“This is one of Tien Dung's sculptures. I love this piece, it shows his intimate connection with planet earth.”
The human form is cleverly sculpted so that hands hold the world but rest in a yoga-like posture on the small of the back. The foot standing on the world stands also on a human back, and the back we stand on when we stand on the world is our own back. The foot and the hands belong to the same being.
The theme is obvious and beautifully succinct- our self interest as humans cannot be separated from the interests of whole natural world.
