Concept
The mother- child archetype is an ancient one. We all have two spiritual mothers: Nature and Culture. Pat is interested in the sometimes contradictory effects these forces. He and his wife Val have two children (Katie and TJ) and they are well-loved reminders of the wild and the tamed, of nature and culture.
The black and white stones with the dominant black figure denote the appearance of the same thing from different perspectives. The dynamic tension between the two is a beautiful expression of that between love and self-realization, harmony and the individual voice. |
