Concept
The sculpture was created after an evening spent looking at the starlit skies of the Kootenays . What you see when you look at the night sky is an experience of light in the here-and-now. But it is also a map of things at vast distances in both space and time. When we look at the sky we are looking at things as they existed before the earth formed.
This gives us a marvelous sense of interconnectedness, both in space and time. We are part of a vast continuum, much of it a complete mystery. But this is also a gateway to a universe of potential connections, limited only by our ways of understanding and the scope of our imaginations.
Our awe in the presence of the cosmos and the natural world of this earth is both a religious experience of the highest order and a powerful inspiration to re-imagine our place in the world and to establish a better harmony with it.
The sculpture comes with hardware which allows you to hang this little cosmos on a wall. |
